WATER SYSTEM
WATER SYSTEM FOR HOME BASE – We will soon need a water system – we have teams arriving starting Jan 2010. It would be so good to have at least a temporary system available by then. And with the heat and hard work we will all be doing, we want to have a shower enclosure available with plenty of water! (If we can get a crocodile proof fence built soon that would be wonderful too!) But long term we want to have experimental gardens, long term staff housing, guest housing, orphan homes, schools, etc – LOTS of water! We are on the river, so there is an unlimited source of water available. Of course we have no electricity either – so we need some ingenuity here. (But then there is the issue of other villages that are not on the river – what kind of water system can we help them build? This will come later, but I am thinking of it as we build our home base.)

I am posting this for my friend Philip who emailed me about a water purification system.
Dan this is AMAZING!
Great information here just skimming through the websites.
I read a article about the benefits of a UV water filter, which Ben
mentions, in remote areas powered by solar. I found these:

They are available from purestfilters.com for around $878.95 for a
full kit.
Also needed would be a pump (for either a shallow well or river water)

Also needed would be solar panels/system to power the UV Lamp:

Plus a water tank, plumbing, and I am sure some more small but pricey
items to make it all work correctly.
